PCHSS Success at the Research Australia Annual Awards 2022
On Thursday 8th December, Research Australia held a gala event for the 19th Annual Health and Medical Research Awards, which recognises the outstanding effort of researchers who drive and support opportunities for health and medical innovation.
The research finalists across the six award categories are of the highest calibre of research, and it is our greatest pleasure to announce that two PCHSS researchers were recognised for their contributions to the health services field.
Congratulations to Professor Johanna Westbrook who was awarded the prestigious Health Services Research Award! This award is sponsored by the Victorian Government Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions (DJPR) and is presented to an individual who has provided leadership and championed the development of the health services research field. This award particularly recognises the achievement of Professor Westbrook and her team in evaluating the effects of information and communication technology in health care (Research Stream 1.1), focuses primarily within the aged care sector. Well done Johanna!
Our heartfelt congratulations also extend to Professor Shlomo Berkovsky, who was presented a commendation award in the Data Innovation category. This is a highly competitive category with the award recognising researchers who have developed impactful new data innovations in the Health and Medical Research (HMR) sector within the last five years. Professor Berkovsky received the commendation for his research into privacy issues with mobile health apps (Research Stream 1.2), congratulations Shlomo on this fantastic achievement!
We look forward to seeing what Professor Westbrook, Professor Berkovsky, and the rest of the PCHSS research team achieve in the future.
